Wouldn’t it be great to never have to worry about running out of ink for your printer again?

What is HP Instant Ink?

Instant Ink is a monthly subscription service from the industry leader in this market, HP.

Once you have subscribed to Instant Ink HP will start to receive messages from your device informing them when any of the  cartridges are running low, at this point it will request that a replacement cartridge be shipped to you, so that you no longer have to worry about running out of ink, which invariably happens at the least convenient moment.

With the popularity of subscription and “As A service” models growing rapidly, you won’t be shocked to learn that this programme has become hugely popular and represents one of the biggest areas of growth for HP globally. As an HP Premier Partner, we are really keen to recommend Instant Ink to our clients who have a requirement for inkjet devices with low print volume requirements.

The main benefits of the programme are;

Pay for the pages printed, not the amount of Ink used

Instant Ink is billed on a monthly plan, and it is based on the number of pages you copy or print, not on the amount of ink you use.  So, you no longer have to worry about the cost of printing a full colour photograph, as it costs the same amount as printing a letter in black and white.

Never run out of Ink again

How stressful is it when you have to print a really important document and the printer tells you that it is out of ink?

Instant Ink now removes that stress by monitoring the levels of ink in the device and requesting the replacement cartridges from HP before it runs out.  You won’t get cartridges every month, but you will always have ink when you need it. Your monthly fee covers the cost of the ink, shipping, and recycling.

Flexible Plans

We are aware that things do change in life, so these Subscription Ink plans are incredibly flexible, allowing you to change the plan on a month to month basis and even terminate the agreement at the online portal.

With all of these great benefits, it is easy to see why this has become so popular with consumers for their home use device.

However, we have also become aware of quite a few businesses that have also used the programme, particularly when they have limited requirements and a low usage, usually less than a ream of paper per month. A great example of this would be the growing number of homeworkers that need to be able to print, but not necessarily in large quantities.

Which Plan is right for me?

The key thing is to understand what your average monthly volume is likely to be.  This isn’t always easy to do, but a good indication will be how long it takes you to use a ream of paper.  Most reams of 80-90 gsm copier or printer paper tend to have 500 sheets in a ream.

These guidelines are of course assuming that you only print on one side of the paper, if you are good environmentalist and print on both sides, duplex, then obviously you will need to factor in a higher usage.

If you think that the Subscribal Ink is right for you and you would like to purchase a new HP device then you might want to consider this special promotion.

An HP printer or multi-function device that is eligible for the programme.
An internet connection for your HP printer or multi-function device.
A valid email address.

Is Subscribal Ink available to a Limited Company or Charity

Yes, Subscribal Ink is available to a limited company, or Charity. However, if you are using more than one ream of paper per month then you will probably find that there are some more economical products in the Subscribal Print range than the Subscribal Ink portfolio.  For more details on Subscribal Print please click here.

What is included in my monthly Subscribal Ink subscription?

Your monthly Subscription to HP Subscribal Ink includes the supply of the cartridges, the monthly usage on your plan, all shipping costs and recycling.

Will I get cartridges delivered every month with my Subscribal Ink Subscription?

No, you will not receive cartridges every month from HP with your Subscribal Ink subscription. The printer anticipates when you’re running out of ink and contacts HP to place an order for replacement cartridges before the current ones expire.

It is worth noting that the cartridges supplied on the HP Subscribal Ink subscription are bigger than the usual ones, with a higher yield, and therefore don’t need to be replaced as frequently as the normal cartridges. This also helps to reduce the negative impact on the environment.

HP also encourage all customers on the Subscribal Ink programme to return their used cartridges in the prepaid envelopes included in the box. All of the returned cartridges will be recycled by HP Planet Partners.

When does my Subscribal Ink Service start, and When will I make my first payment?

If you already own an HP Printer or multi-function device that is eligible for the HP Subscribal Ink subscription programme, you will receive a Welcome Package not long after you have registered, along with your HP Subscribal Ink cartridges.

The billing cycle only starts once you have insert your first HP Subscribal Ink cartridges in toyour enrolled printer, you will then be charged every month thereafter.

If your enrolled printer is a newly purchased device that comes with Subscribal Ink cartridges already inside, you may be offered a Trial period for the Subscribal Ink service, if you sign up within 7 days of the initial installation.

If, however, you register your Subscribal Ink subscription more than 7 days after the initial installation, then your service and billing won’t start until you insert your Welcome Package cartridges.

What if I don’t know which Subscribal Ink Plan to agree to?

Don’t worry as you have the flexibility to alter the plan on a month to month basis if you believe that    you aren’t on the most appropriate Subscribal Ink plan.

This can be changed easily in your Subscribal Ink dashboard, moving to a higher or lower plan, as and when you feel the need. However, please note that it is not possible to switch back to the FREE Subscribal Ink plan.

How does Subscribal Ink differ from Subscribal Print?

Subscribal Ink has been positioned as a subscription model for home users, which you can see with the products that are in the portfolio, which are traditional desktop inkjet machines. Whereas, Subscribal Print is most definitely targeted at SME, Ltd Companies and Charities, so the products are more highly specified with PageWide and Laser products.

Another big difference is that the customer has to purchase the printer or multi-function device up front on the Subscribal Ink programme and the ink is the only element that the customer subscribes to.

This differs significantly from Subscribal Print, as the cost of the printer or multi-function device is included in the monthly subscription payment, along with next business day onsite service support from HP technicians.

What happens if my Subscribal Ink usage is changing regularly?

The HP Subscribal Ink subscription is flexible enough to allow you to keep unused pages in your account and roll them into the following month, and allows you to roll up to two times the number of pages in your monthly plan.

What happens if I print more pages than I have agreed to in my Subscribal Ink Plan?

If you have exceeded your plan, after any rollover pages have been accounted for, then you will be charged for the excess pages at the agreed rate within your Subscribal Ink plan.

However, please remember that you do have the flexibility to change your Subscribal Ink plan to a higher plan to accommodate any anticipated increases in usage.

What happens if I don’t use all of the pages in my Subscribal Ink Plan?

If you do not use all of your monthly pages in your Subscribal Ink subscription plan you can keep them in your account and roll them over into the following month. You have the flexibility to roll over up to two times your monthly plan for as long as you are enrolled in the programme.

For example, you can roll over up to 100 pages if you are enrolled in a 50 page plan. Rollover pages are not available on the Free printing plan.

How do additional Subscribal Ink pages work?

Once you have printed all the pages in your plan, and you have used all your rollover pages, additional sets of pages will be automatically charged on your Subscribal Ink account. See the plan for the price of these excess charges.

But please note that, as long as your printer is connected to the Internet, HP will send you anotification email when you are about to reach your monthly page limit. At this point you might want to consider upgrading your plan rather than paying for additional pages.

Are Subscribal Ink plan changes or cancellation effective immediately?

You can choose to make a change to a higher plan effective immediately and retroactively apply to the current billing cycle, or have the upgrade take effect the first day of the next billing cycle.

Changes to a lower plan and cancellation are effective the first day of the next billing cycle. Bear in mind that you cannot downgrade to the Free Printing plan.

For more details, see the HP Subscribal Ink Terms of Service.

Can I still use my Subscribal Ink Cartridges after cancelling the service?

After you have signed up to the service you will receive a set of our high yield Subscribal Ink cartridges with your Welcome Package. From this point, all future cartridges will be Subscribal Ink cartridges.

If, however, you cancel the service then the Subscribal Ink cartridges will stop working and you will need to replace them all with standard cartridges.

What is an Subscribal Ink Prepaid Card from HP?

If the printer or multi-function device was purchased from a store, you may have been offered a prepaid card from HP.  If so, the value on this card can be redeemed against your account in your Subscribal Ink dashboard, any monthly charges will be deducted from your prepaid balance.

Is the cost for Colour and Black and White pages the same with my Subscribal Ink Account?

Subscribal Ink is billed on a monthly plan, and it is based on the number of pages you copy or print, not on the amount of ink you use.  So, you no longer have to worry about the cost of printing a full colour photograph, as it costs the same amount as printing a letter in black and white.

Can my Subscribal Ink Cartridges be recycled?

Absolutely, HP actively encourage all customers, not just Subscribal Ink customers, to return used cartridges for recycling. When they send you replacement cartridges you will also receive a prepaid envelope in your box so that you can return the used cartridges.

All cartridges received will be recycled by HP Planet Partners.

What is the difference between HP Print at Your Service (PaYS) and HP Subscribal Ink?

HP Print at Your Service, or PaYS as it is more commonly known, is aimed more at SME businesses and charities. The monthly subscription payment on PaYS includes the cost of the hardware and next business day on-site service cover from HP qualified technicians.

This differs considerably from Subscribal Ink which is very much aimed at the consumer market, with the DeskJet and Officejet portfolio, where the customer has to purchase the device before entering into the Subscribal Ink subscription for the ink.
